Positano

What to see in Positano: the Pearl of the Amalfi Coast, where sea meets fashion

Positano is one of Italy’s most beautiful seaside resorts. Just 15 km from Amalfi, nestled amongst lush vegetation and a picture-perfect sea, it is considered the pearl of the Amalfi Coast.

The town is characterised by narrow, winding alleys leading to white houses clinging to the hillside.
Known throughout the world for its famous beachwear, Positano offers visitors countless charming shops and boutiques where local crafts are often found alongside designer labels.

Interesting facts
Positano is the steepest town in Italy and the village of the ‘scalinatelle’ (little stairways) which, from the top of the town, step by step, lead down to the beach. From the Spiaggia Grande, in fact, Positano appears as an imposing pyramid of little houses climbing towards the sky

Torre Transita
Located just outside Positano, in the area of Punta Campanella where the Amalfi Coast ends and the Sorrento Coast begins, stands the first Saracen watchtower.

Montepertuso and Nocelle
These are two small tourist hamlets, both charming and very picturesque, situated in the highest part of Positano. Montepertuso is known, as its name suggests, for the mountain that, according to tradition, was pierced by the Virgin Mary with her index finger. Nocelle, on the other hand, is a famous stopping point on the Path of the Gods, also accessible from Montepertuso by walking uphill.
Both hamlets are connected to the town centre by a long flight of steps.
